Historic Tenby

The historic fortified cobbled street town of Tenby is only a 4 miles drive, cycle or walk away from the Ploughman’s Cottage. Tenby is famous for its pretty pastel coloured houses which overlook Tenby harbour and for its beautiful three beaches of North Beach, South Beach and Castle Beach. The town boasts many restaurants, shops, cafes and pubs all linked by cobbled streets. The harbour, allows you to board cruises to nearby Caldey Island, or just take the South West coast of Wales and its wildlife. You can also enjoy walks along Tenby’s South Beach toward Giltar Point and join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path for fantastic views of Caldey Island. Echoes of Tenby’s historic past remain in the town today. Its hilltop position gave rise to its early settlement as a Welsh stronghold. In medieval times this was replaced by a Norman Castle and walled town. Part of the town walls still exist and mark the entrance to the old town. Stroll around the streets and enjoy coffee, ice-cream, traditional fish and chips and more. Tenby is perfect holiday destination for everyone.
